Wigston Cemetery

Notes:
The Wigston Cemetery is located on Welford Road in the town. All new burials now take place in the cemetery's lawn sections. There is a chapel on site.
"In 1795 an Anglo-Saxon cemetery was found at Wigston Magna and some of the objects from it drawn. The recording of surviving objects from the site has allowed a reappraisal, including relatively recent fieldwork. This suggests a sequence of occupation from the Iron Age to the early/middle Saxon. The cemetery material is principally sixth century a.d. in date and includes a high status element."
