I would like to give you birth and death details of my grandfather, Henry Peach Tansley. He was born in Cottingham on 29 January 1899 and died in Staffordshire on 5 September 1963. His father was Benjamin Tansley and mother was Harriet Tansley.

Hi Love your web site it brings back a lot of memories. My mother lived in Wyngate Drive as a child (Josephine Bracey Nee Roll) until she married my dad Philip Bracey during the war. We then lived at 29 Gimson Rd, moving to Wigston in 1960. As kids we were all over the place, Fosse Park, Fosse cinema, Western park. Up and down the Hinckley Rd into town and all around the roads between Gimson rd. and Kirby rd. My kids now adults don't believe me when I tell them we had a Guy Fawkes bonfire on the middle of the road where Neville Rd meets Denton St. Your site has inspired me to do something I've been meaning to do for years, spend a few days finding out about the Leicester I missed as a child. Thanks again for your work and all the best for the future.

I well remember the huge bonfires being lit on November 5th in Flora Street, just around the corner from Fosse Road North - Ed.

Do you have any sketches or photos of the mill William Addison worked at, I have found he lived at the Manor House, which is mid way between the old water mill and wind mill both now gone. Or photos of William Addison? When his wife died he moved and became a Baker with his son. I am the village Archivist and would love to know more about the miller and his life.
