I was pointed in the direction of this site recently whilst compiling my ancestry family tree. Many connections to my tree on here, very interesting reading.

I'm delighted to find this website and look forward to reading through the extensive information! I am part of the Liquorish line (William Liquorish and Lucy Craxford are 3rd great-grandparents).

Hi, having more time on my hands now looking into ancestry and stumbled upon Tilley surname. I knew I had seen the name on my tree so looked into it.
Edgar Martin Tilly 1879 married my great grandmother's aunt Sarah Ann Baines. I know of 3 of her children Mable,Connie (ROYCE) and Florence (Cutten). Hope to find more.

I am very impressed with the Craxford Family Genealogy Magazine which i have only just found because of the focus you have provided on the West End area of Leicester.
My Great-great-paternal grandparents (James and Mary Powdrill) moved from Desford to 39 Buckingham Street around 1863 (they appear in the 1871 census at this address) I am searching for information re construction and demolition dates for the property they lived in and also a possible name for the builder.
All the family of the above in the Boot and shoe related trade. The youngest son, Harry Powdrill, attended Alderman Newton's and eventually became a joint managing director of Luke Turners Elastic Webbing company on Grange Lane / Deacon street. He died in 1932.
I am searching for any information and photos which will help build up a picture of the life they led during the time at Buckingham Street (from 1860 to 1891)
Can you point me in the direction of any sources which may help e.g. elementary schools in the area, the average rents paid by tenants, when the houses were built in the area, tram route serving the area, any other Powdrills known about?
I am sorry about bombarding you wi questions, but any guidance from you and other contributors to your site would be most gratefully appreciated.

Hello, I wonder if you can help please. I'm discovering to my horror that an awful amount of documentation was discarded from Eric Bemrose printers on the hand over to News International. Do you have any information on the process cameras and the changes in the photogravure process?? Many thanks,
Andy

Hello! Thank you for the information on the market town of Whittlesey. My mother's maiden name is Whittlesey. My ancestors left the area in the early part of the 17th Century. I would like to better understand their emigration and hope to one day visit Whittlesey, England. It is interesting that the drainage of the fens was possibly in the time period of my family's departure. I wonder how this may have impacted their decision. Thanks again for sharing the information on your family site.

I'm Eric Ginn spoken about in the blitz. Still alive and well! After surviving the bombing and with my father severely injured
his friend took us home to Chesham away from everything where he and his lovely wife raised me from 1941 to 1945. Then I returned to London to my father who had remarried.
[The account of the bombing is in the article which can be found in the PURPLE pages at: "PADDINGTON GREENS": PART 2 THE SHARDALOW INHERITANCE. - Ed]
