I think Eleanor Unwin is my grandmother. She died in Leeds in 1971. She married Walter Gordon Smith in 1916 and had two sons, Douglas and Kenneth (my father) who is now 94). The other members of her family would appear to match my research so far.

I was born in 1940 and lived in Tewkesbury Street (Leicester) until I came to Australia in 1960. I was introduced to your site by Dave King who is associated with St Pauls Church

My mum was a Tansley born Leics in 1907 - my great grandad is buried at the church in Cottingham. I have got a great deal of information from your excellent site. I have done some research into my family but didn't know how big the Tansley family was and how far back they went. Thank you.

Helen married William Henry Jahne b-jan 6, 1891 NY, d-Oct 9, 1973 in Palo Alto CA (findagrave.com mem #111049591) Wm and Helen had 1 dau, Caroline Binley Jahne b-may 5, 1919 NY d-may 15, 2010 Los Altos CA (findagrave.com mem# 111661982) Caroline married Reginald Heber Jr. b-dec 26, 1908 NY or NJ, d-jul 13, 2004 Mt View CA (findagrave.com mem# 111661356) Reginald and Caroline had 3 daughters, all currently in CA. Henry Binley was an Oriental Buyer for Wannamakers Dept. Store. After Mary Young died Henry Binley mar. Pricilla Barry on jun 15, 1899. Pricilla was b-Mar 1869 in England, d-Jul 1928 Henry and Pricilla had son Henry Norman Binley b-May 30, 1900 in Germantown PA d-Jan 30, 1998 Florida. Henry Norman married Marion Estelle Alley b-Sep 14, 1900 Banksville Greenwich Fairfield Connecticut, d-Jun 29, 1969 Sarasota Florida. Henry and Marion had 1 dau still living in FLA.
I just telephoned the Ivy Hill cemetery in Philadelphia and confirmed this information:
Henry Binley in 646- sect L, in grave #1 interned on 9/26/1934
Pricilla Binley 646- sect L, in grave #2 interned on 7/26/1928.
The staff there could not find a Mary Young Binley (Henry's first wife) buried there.

Thanks for the memories Alan. I was brought up on Battenberg Road around the same time. I also attended Mantle Road Infants and later Alderman Newton's from 1956 - 61. My junior school though was Alderman Richard Hallam. Had I lived on the other side of the road, I would have attended Inglehurst.

I am descended from Susan Shardalow, daughter of Francis and Sarah (Sewell) Shardalow. Susan arrived in Victoria, Australia with her two daughters Sarah and Kezia in 1852. Susan died in 1866. Her uncle John Fairweather Shardalow had arrived in 1849 and family stories suggested he paid their fare.
